Mac Users: The School of Dentistry does not support Apple computers (see
computer requirements). You may download
the Digital Histology program to a Windows computer in the CID Lab located in Lyons A-019.
How should I download it? Because this is a large download, we urge you to use
a wired, on-campus connection. To install it to your own computer, copy it to a USB drive
or other removable medium for transfer.
PC Download Instructions
- Download the file DigHist.exe below. You may be prompted to log in with your VCU eID and password.
- After logging in, you should be prompted to download the file. Save the file to your desktop.
- Double-click on the file. This will open the WinZip Self Extractor. Browse to select your
desktop as the Unzip to folder.
- The files will be extracted to a folder on your desktop called DigHisto5_2eCurr. Open this
folder and double-click _StartHere.exe to begin the program.
How should I download it?
- Download both of the files below and save them to your desktop. You may be prompted to login with your VCU eID and password.
- After downloading, right-click on each file and select "Extract". Choose a location
on your computer where the files should be extracted.
- Go to the location on your computer where you extracted the files. To start the Digital Histology program, find the file
Digital Histology.exe and double-click. To start the Oral Histology and Embryology program, find the file Oral Histo Embryo 05.exe
and double-click.

The program is marketed globally, along with a companion book, by textbook publisher Wiley-Liss.
The publisher has granted us a special dispensation to distribute it freely to VCU students,
but you may not share it with others.
