is dedicated to improving oral health while
fostering the quest for knowledge and
advancing the education process.
About the Department »

Located on the MCV campus of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia, the GP Department's full-time faculty members have over 300 combined years of experience in dentistry and a combined 225 years as dental educators at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Our faculty teach a wide range of dental courses and they also provide instruction in the school's advanced general dentistry residency. In addition to providing valuable clinical experience to our senior dental and dental hygiene students, the school's clinical service-learning program provides quality oral health care to the community. Since July 2000, the school's students and faculty have participated in the Mission of Mercy (MOM) Project, providing dental care to underserved areas of the state. The school is in the forefront of dental education with its DentSim dental simulators, a computerized training system, which allows students to perform procedures on a simulated patient and receive real-time feedback.
