Clinic lead worker, Private Dentistry@VCU
Michelle McDaniel happened into dentistry by chance, but wound up finding a lifelong
calling in assisting dentists with patient care.
“I have always enjoyed working with people and making a difference in their
lives, so I thought I would give dentistry a try,” McDaniel said. “Little

As the clinical supervisor in Private Dentistry@VCU , a private care practice staffed by
full-time Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry faculty members,
McDaniel ensures that the clinic runs smoothly and on time, while also helping dentists
with various services and treatments. A VCU employee since 1994, she truly enjoys
the atmosphere of the Dentistry@VCU.
“We really take the time to educate our patients, to really care about how
they’re feeling,” McDaniel said. “Our dentists are used to teaching

She believes patients seek out Private Dentistry@VCU for the excellence of care,
state-of-the-art facilities and multispecialty offerings.
“We offer all the dentistry specialties,” McDaniel said. “If it’s
not in this practice, it’s two floors down, so you never have to leave this
building to receive treatment. People come from all over the state to receive our
McDaniel understands that patients may experience anxiety and fear when receiving
dental services, and she relishes the opportunity to help them feel comfortable
and relaxed. She also likes witnessing the transformative power of successful treatments.
“What I enjoy most about my job is helping a person improve their smile, which
will also improve their self-esteem,” she said. “I also get to help
people overcome their fear of dentistry. That is huge.”
