The foundation sponsors an annual scientific and alumni meeting, usually held Sunday through Tuesday in late February or early March.
The foundation funds the McIver Library for purchases of printed journals, books, electronic journals and binding of printed journals. The McIver Library is in the Department of Orthodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University. The library is named after the department’s founding chair, James E. McIver, D.D.S.
The foundation supports the residents in taking Parts I and II of the American Board of Orthodontics with payments and fees and a travel allowance to attend the AAO meeting. We are pleased to report that all of the residents have passed this examination since the establishment of this graduation requirement. The Foundation believes that education should continue beyond the residency and encourages graduates to become diplomates of the ABO.
The foundation purchased computers and equipment for the residents’ use to assist in creating and maintaining a technologically advanced facility. The foundation will continue to carry forth the standards of excellence idealized by Dr. McIver and his successors.
