MasterTrack Learning Enhancements

VCU will recruit guest speakers to provide instruction who are experts in the topic content areas. Many of these will be from VCU, but others will be from outside the VCU community.

VCU will use a Learning Facilitator to promote the quality of the overall program by:

  • helping select and recruit guest speakers and presenters
  • working with the guest speakers and presenters to assure quality of content is at a postgraduate level
  • designing overall strategies for homework assignments
  • helping speakers design their topic homework assignments for consistent format
  • establishing protocols and expectations for the case report presentations by participants from the homework assignments
  • developing criteria for the evaluation of oral case reports, written case reports, and other assignments
  • leading the Thursday sessions in which participants present their oral case reports
  • evaluating the case reports in conjunction with the guest speakers
  • helping to keep participants engaged, motivated, and participating in the MasterTrack Program
  • participating in the on-line conversation among practitioners, speakers, and the CE Office during the off-site homework periods between sessions

VAGD will provide a facilitator who will help oversee the delivery of the courses and will serve as an assistant in the hands-on courses.

VCU will establish and maintain a MasterTrack Program course website using the Blackboard™ on-line course management system. Course members will have secure log-ins limited to the participants, the speakers, the Learning Facilitator, the CE Director, and other CE Office personnel. This site will be used for:

  • posting general information about the MasterTrack Program
  • posting information about specific sessions and topics
  • posting reading materials and homework assignments
  • posting materials for case reports
  • exchanging information, posing questions, and conversing with the MasterTrack group
