The Wood Memorial Building was constructed in the early fifties and in 1954 Dean Lyons oversaw the move of
the Dental School from McGuire Hall to this new facility.
Currently, the Wood Building houses the Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pedodontics, Periodontics,
Prosthodontics and the Philips Institute of Oral and Craniofacial Molecular Biology.
The Skill Development Clinics, Dental Hygiene, Advance Education General Dentistry Residency, Pedodontics,
Prosthodontics Graduate Clinic, Radiology,
the Business Office and the first year preclinical laboratories also reside here.
These clinics have served to train over 5,000 dentists from the first class of 1893 through the class of 2004. VCU School of Dentistry is the 16th oldest dental school in the nation. |

The Lyons Building was constructed in the late sixties. The Dean's Office, offices of Admissions, Student Affairs Financial Aid, Continuing Education, Information Systems, and the Computer Learning Lab reside here. Also located in Lyons are the Departments of Dental Hygiene, Oral Pathology, Endodontics, General Practice, and Orthodontics along with the Oral Surgery Clinic and Graduate Endodontic, Orthodontic,
and Periodontic Clinics, as well as the Dental Service Lab, Dental Store, Main Reception, Chartroom, and Instrument Management System.
Our clinics have served the citizens of the Commonwealth for over 100 years, with our centennial anniversary in 1993. |

The W. Baxter Perkinson, Jr. Building was constructed in 2008. The new facility includes dental and periodontics clinics, increased research and laboratory space, and an off-street
drop-off and pickup area for patients. The $20 million, 55,000 square-foot structure connects to the Wood and Lyons buildings and enables the school to increase
student enrollment in dentistry and dental hygiene, to expand research and to improve patient access to care. |
