Centers and institutes

The centerpiece of the research efforts at the VCU School of Dentistry lies within the Philips Institute for Oral Health Research, where studies related to oral and craniofacial molecular biology are carried out.

The mission of the Philips Institute is to serve the university and the commonwealth as a center of educational and research excellence focused on infectious, neoplastic and genetic diseases of the oral cavity, head and neck.

With plans to enhance our research focus on dental biomaterials and build upon existing research strengths in bacterial pathogenesis, periodontology and clinical trials research, the VCU School of Dentistry boasts a bright future in research.
