Overview

VCU School of Dentistry is committed to developing new treatments for diseases of the head and neck. We have a wide range of research interests. Faculty, residents, dental, dental hygiene and graduate students all contribute towards our research endeavors. Our research is showcased in our annual Research Day in April and in our research newsletter, the Dental Investigator. Student researchers present their work at national and international conferences.

Biomedical research is carried out in the Philips Institute for Oral Health Research focusing on cancer, infectious diseases and tissue regeneration.  Students in our Ph.D. program and M.S. program are based in the Philips Institute.

Our clinical departments conduct research in their specialty areas.

Students interested in research can take elective courses to train them in research design and execution.
