Health and immunizations

Policy on blood-borne and infectious diseases

By the nature of the profession, oral health care providers are routinely exposed to blood and bodily fluids during the treatment of patients in a clinical environment. In accordance with Section 32.1-45.1 of the Code of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry requires that if a health care provider is exposed to bodily fluids in a manner that may transmit blood-borne or infectious disease, both the health care provider and the patient will be tested for disease.

Immunizations

VCU is committed to ensuring a safe environment for students and the patients they serve. As such, all new students who will have patient contact as part of their program of study are asked to return the newly revised VCU Health Sciences Student Immunization Requirements form. Students are strongly encouraged to complete immunization requirements prior to the start of classes to prevent future registration holds.

Please complete the immunization forms online and upload your paperwork via the Student Health Web Portal.
